My Cop Out

A few years ago I realized that I've outgrown Kevin Smith and his brand of humor.  While I liked Jersey Girl and Zack and Miri, his View Askew stuff is starting to fall flat mostly because I remembered that I'm no longer in high school.  I've grown up, and so has my taste in movies.  Unfortunately, Kevin Smith really hasn't grown along with his audience...until now.

This February, Cop Out is coming out, and it's kind of a big deal because it's the first movie Smith has directed that he didn't write and produce.  It's one of the first times he's going outside of his comfort zone and making a somewhat mainstream flick.  Some of his fans will call him a sellout, but I'm kind of excited to see his adventure into collaboration, especially after seeing the trailer...

Sure, Cop Out doesn't look like it's going to be a groundbreaking movie, but it looks like it'll have some decent laughs, and I'm hoping Smith will have a hit on his hands for the first time.

  1. It's not that you've outgrown his humor, it's that Kev's movie's have sucked. He's not a sell out for directing a film that isn't his on material, he's a true COP OUT for not following through on so many other past/future projects that are a leap from his prior stuff. And while I am cautiously optimistic about Cop really does look horrible. I really hope it's not, but...Tracy Morgan? Really? (sigh) ...
